Since Copdock is a vineyard as well as a venue – see the new sign – we thought it appropriate to post about the ongoing maintenance of the vines. After winter pruning last month while the vines were dormant, the vineyard has suddenly burst into life with buds emerging along the trunks of the red and white varietals. That means rubbing out most of them while keeping a small number at the top of the vines. Because they are in their third year, it’s time to lay them down along the fruiting wire from which the buds will grow into stems. It’s time-consuming…as ever. If you want to read more about the vineyard, you can read the dedicated vineyard blog: https://copdockhallvineyard.wordpress.com/
Well…it’s official. Signs have gone out in the area and at the entrance to Copdock Hall advertising our Wedding Fair on 26 April. At this stage we don’t know how many people will attend…20, 200, 2000? For that reason we are also holding an opening day/summer tea on 28 June from 12 noon to 4pm when tea and cakes will be available, raising money for neighbouring St Peter’s Church which will also be open. In truth we’d rather non-bride and grooms come then when things will be less busy.
Had a great opportunity to get a more landscaped perspective on developments at Copdock Hall barn when I climbed the bell tower of neighbouring St Peter’s Church. It was a tight squeeze climbing to the top and clambering my way through the bells to reach the top…but it was worth it for the view. Everything look more orderly from up there and smart. We’ve come a long way.
Despite strong winds outside, photographer Kevin Pengelly arrived at Copdock Hall with colleague Sabrina to take some pictures for our marketing portfolio. It was good to see Kevin again who visited the barn right at the start and was very enthusiastic which was a fillip at the time. We’re fortunate to be associated with all our preferred photographers who we’d recommend to anyone hiring the venue.
Photographer Kevin Pengelly is coming today to take pics of the (almost) completed barn for our marketing and promotional material. That meant last night was spent dressing some tables and arranging furniture inside the barn and buying flowers to dress some of the outside. Thanks to Leah from Bentley Blooms for the flower arrangements and caterer Patricia Sharman for the crockery, glassware and table decorations.
The surfacing has finished, the paved entrance is complete and the sun has been shining. Despite us still running around with last minute jobs, the contractors are all but gone and the end is in sight…!
Exciting times – we’ve just received our wedding licence so it’s all systems go. We’re looking forward to officially open the doors at our launch and wedding fair on April 26th but we’re available for viewings and bookings before then. Just get in touch with any queries – email@example.com
